The Self Audit

One person answers about 50 questions online. You get a full report on the eight Forces in your fundraising system, read by an expert from Fundraiser In The Room before it's released. Then you can ask questions about it on screen.

£495 plus VAT (£594 with VAT)

You pay on Stripe’s secure page. We never see your card details. You can enter a partner code there.

Need an invoice against a purchase order instead?

If you move up to a Guided Audit within 90 days, we take the £495 off.

Who it's for

  • Directors and heads of fundraising who can see what's wrong and need evidence to take upward, for instance to make the case for investment to a sceptical finance director before next year's budget is set
  • Chief executives who want a clear view of fundraising without starting a big project
  • Charities that want a first look before deciding on anything larger
  • Teams that have tried fixing campaigns and want to look at the system around them

Who it isn't for

  • Charities that need many people's views in one report. The Guided Audit is built for that.
  • Anyone looking for a pound figure on lost income. The report doesn't give one.
  • Anyone hoping to review individual staff. The audit looks at the system around people.
  • Organisations with no fundraising function yet. There isn't enough to score.

What you'll need

  • About 30 to 45 minutes to answer the questions. You can stop and come back.
  • Access to the email address you buy with, for your sign-in code.
  • Any documents you'd like to share. These help, but none is required:
    • your fundraising strategy or annual plan
    • your organisational strategy
    • your last three years' annual accounts
    • a recent supporter communication
    • a campaign planning template
    • a document about your CRM
    • your fundraising risk register, or a recent board paper on fundraising
    • anything else useful, such as an org chart or journey map

If a document is missing, that's evidence too. The report caps the scores it affects and says what's missing.

What you get

A full report. An A4 report you read on screen and can download as a PDF. It scores all eight Forces and forty sub-dimensions, shows the evidence, flags where it's thin, and closes with a plan in three phases.

The conversation. Ask questions about your report on screen. Up to 30 a day and 200 in total.

A note for your finance director. A page written to help you take the findings to finance.

How long it takes

  • Buying: a few minutes.
  • Gathering documents: anything from 15 minutes to a day or two, depending on who holds what.
  • Answering: 30 to 45 minutes for most people.
  • Your report: we aim to release it within ten working days of you submitting.
  • Access: your report and the conversation stay visible for 90 days after release. Download the PDF to keep it.

One person's view

A Self Audit is answered by one person. It shows the system as they see it, backed by the documents they share. That's often enough to see where to start. It can't show whether others see it the same way. The report says so on its first page. If you need several voices, look at the Guided Audit.

Your data in brief

Your documents are deleted 30 days after your report is released. Please don't upload supporter data, such as donor names, contact details or giving records. An AI model drafts the report and an expert from Fundraiser In The Room reads it in full before release. The Force and overall scores are added up in code.

Refunds in brief

You can have a full refund any time before you submit your answers, within 30 days of buying. After you submit, we don't refund unless we can't deliver for reasons within our control.

Questions about the Self Audit

Can more than one person fill it in?

No. One person answers. If you'd like several voices, the Guided Audit takes evidence from up to twelve people.

Can we upgrade later?

Yes. Book a Guided Audit within 90 days of your report's release and the £495 (before VAT) comes off.

Can we pay by invoice?

Yes. You can ask for an invoice against a purchase order instead of paying by card.

What if we don't have a fundraising strategy?

You can still take the audit. The report will say it's missing, and the related scores can't go above the cap.
